The BR type is the standard for small lithium-ion batteries, also known as button cells because of their small, round size. BR batteries are known to operate at high power from start to finish, while also being able to withstand high temperatures.

Another type of button cell is the CR cell, which is a lithium manganese dioxide battery. The initial discharge of the CR cell is higher than that of the BR cell, but should be phased out as the cell ages.

For this reason, BR batteries are often used in electronics where life is important, such as cell phones and laptops. However, CR batteries are inexpensive and therefore popular in devices such as smoke detectors, bathroom scales, watches and calculators.

What are CR2016 Batteries?

CR2016, a non-rechargeable battery, is a 3V button type lithium manganese battery, CR stands for the international IEC number of button type lithium manganese battery, 20 means the diameter of this battery is 20mm, 16 means the thickness of this battery is 1.6mm, the shape is button type battery, button battery, button type battery; nominal voltage is 3.0V, rated capacity is 75mAh.

Applications

CR2016 batteries are commonly used in computer motherboards, memory cards, cell phones, Bluetooth wireless products, remote controls, calculators, electric toys, miniature radio instruments, alarm systems, medical devices, etc.

What are CR2032 Batteries?

3V CR2032 lithium-manganese battery is a lithium-manganese dioxide battery, the cathode material is manganese dioxide which is chemically stable, the cathode material is lithium metal, the electrolyte is solid salt or salt dissolved in organic solvent, shaped like a button, referred to as lithium button battery or lithium-manganese button battery.

CR2032 lithium button battery has the advantages of high specific energy, long storage period, small self-discharge, safe use, wide working temperature range, etc. The battery can work normally in the range of -20~+70℃.

  • Weight 3.1g

CR2016 Vs CR2032: what are the Differences?

cr2016 vs cr2032.jpg

1. Interchangeability of CR2016 and CR2032

They are both 3 volts and both are non-rechargeable. Due to their equivalent voltages, the CR2016 and CR2032 are interchangeable in some cases, but the CR2032 is twice as thick as the CR2016 and has about three times the capacity. In general not demanding situations, a one-to-one substitution is fine in terms of electrical parameters, and even larger capacities can be obtained.

However, for example, for car keys, due to the height limitation of the battery box, using a 2032 replacement 2016 with a larger thickness will not cover the key cover.

2. The same features of CR2016 VS CR2032

①. The materials used are the same, the cathode material is manganese dioxide which is chemically stable, the negative material is lithium metal, the electrolyte is lithium perchlorate electrolyte, the main component is lithium perchlorate, the solvent is PC (propylene carbonate), DMC (dimethyl carbonate), DOL (dioxolane).

②. The shapes are the same, both are cylindrical.

③. The diameters are the same, both groups are 20mm and 16mm respectively.

④. The voltage is the same, both have a nominal voltage of 3.0V and a termination voltage of 2.0V.

⑤. The use of the same temperature range, are -20 ℃ ~ 60 ℃, in fact, generally can only be used between 5 degrees to 60 degrees, BR series of wide temperature battery manufacturers have done -50 ℃ ~ 125 ℃ is not included in the discussion of CR series.

⑥. Storage environment is the same, the temperature is about 20 ℃, RH <75%.

3. CR2016 Vs CR2032: what are the difference?

①The thickness of CR2032 is 3.2mm and the thickness of CR2016 is 1.6mm.

②The volume is different, the volume of CR2032 is 2 times of CR2016.

③ capacity is different, the capacity of CR2032 mainly has 180mAH, 210mAH, 240mAH three, CR2016 mainly has 70mAH and 85mAH, from these data analysis, the thickness and volume is 2 times, but the capacity of CR2032 can do 3 times of CR2016.

④ weight is different, CR2032 average weight 3.1g, CR2016 average weight 1.6g, weight and thickness figures are close, there is also CR2025 weight 2.5g and height 2.5mm figures are similar, most other models such as CR2450 are not similar figures.

⑤. Discharge current is different, manufacturers according to the needs of the market can design different values of high current and low current, there is no completely uniform standard here.

⑥. Application range is different, CR2032 is more widely used, almost involving most of the electronic products, while CR2016, although it has the same application as CR2032 in some fields, is more inclined to smaller precision instruments, such as memory cards, electronic cards and electronic watches, etc.

  • Thickness.

Each CR battery has four unique numerical numbers. These four numbers indicate the thickness of the battery itself. When you look at the CR2016 and CR2032, the CR2016 is 1.6 mm thick and the CR2032 is 3.2 mm thick. The last two numbers on any CR battery will tell you the thickness (in millimeters).

  • Capacity

The CR 2032 has a capacity of 240 mAh, while the CR2016 has a capacity of only 90 mAh. Of course, the CR2032 can provide 10 hours of use, while you will only get about 6 hours from the CR2016, depending on the power supply used.

CR2016 has a voltage of 3V and a capacity of about 75mah, while CR2032 has the same voltage of 3V but a capacity of about 200mah, so it is twice as thick as CR2016.

  • Applications.

Since the CR2016 battery has a shorter life cycle, you can find it in things that don't consume much power, such as calculators and watches. Typically, CR2016 batteries can handle the low power requirements of such products and last for months or even years. items such as PC motherboards, car remote controls, bank card readers and toys are used in CR2032 batteries.
