The Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences began to develop the Loongson series of processors in 2001. After more than ten years of accumulation and development, in 2010, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal Government jointly led the investment and formally established Loongson Zhongke Technology Co., Ltd., aiming to process Loongson. Loongson Zhongke is committed to the design, production, sales and service of Loongson series CPUs. The main products include dedicated small CPUs for industrial applications, medium CPUs for industrial and terminal applications, and large CPUs for computer applications. In order to meet market demand, Loongson has a Security Application Division, a General Division, an Embedded Division and a Guangzhou subsidiary.
